FIVE Ceres Negros Football Club (FC) players were called to suit up in the Philippine Men’s National Team for the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 Qualifiers match against Yemen on October 10 at the Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Stadium in Doha, Qatar.
The Azkals aim to edge Yemen in their home game after a two-all draw last September 5 at Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City, which kept the Filipinos unbeaten with two wins and a draw.
The five Ceres FC players are Iain Ramsay, Carlos de Murga, Kevin Ingreso, Manuel Ott, and Jim Junior Muñoz.
De Murga and Muñoz last saw action in the five-nil win by Ceres FC over Ilocos United over the weekend.
Completing the 23-man team are Global Cebu FC’s Dominic del Rosario, Patrick Deyto, Hikaru Minegishi, Paul Mulders and Dennis Villanueva; Davao Aguilas FC’s Nicholas O’Donnell, Dylan de Bruycker, Simone Rota, and Younghusband siblings James and Phil;
Curt Dizon (FC Meralco Manila), Sean Patrick Kane (JPV Marikina FC), and Jesus Joaquin Melliza (Stallion Laguna FC), and international players Neil Etheridge (Cardiff City FC), Harry Föll (FC Hansa Rostock), Mike Ott (Angthong United), Stephan Palla (Wolfsberger AC), and Daisuke Sato (AC Horsens).
This is the first call-up for Melliza and Kane while Dizon is making his return after a brief stint with the national team in 2014.
Sato also returns to the squad after serving his suspension – missing the Azkals’ last game against Yemen.
Javier Patiño, Amani Aguinaldo, Luke Woodland, and Misagh Bahadoran are out of the squad due to injuries.
Directing the play for the national team is head coach Thomas Dooley assisted by Kurt Kowarz.
