FIVE people, including a 10-year-old child, were killed while nine were wounded in a vehicular accident Wednesday, March 29, in Zamboanga Sibugay.

Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer Rogelio Alabata said the incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday along the national highway in the village of Katipunan, R.T. Lim, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Alabata identified the fatalities as Cardo Cortez, 50, driver; Paterno Endrina, 70; Wengilyn Casipong, 47; Reynan Beniares, 30; and Romelyn Cortez, 10.

Wounded were Enriqueta Cortez, 49; Roger Cortez, 32; Anthony Cortez, 12; Jason Suringa, 16; Jomaril Anduha, 17; Jordan Banga, 18; Jaime Montecalbo, 19; Laurencio Casipong, 51; Fiona Casipong, seven. They were hospitalized.

Investigation showed the victims were aboard a truck driven by Cortez bound for the village of Malubal, R.T. Lim, according to Alabata.

He said the truck bumped a concrete electric post after Cortez lost control of the steering wheel while maneuvering on a blind curve area.

Alabata said the truck turned upside down and fell on its right side which resulted to the death and injuries of the people aboard the truck.
