FIVE Luzon areas were placed under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS) Number 1 as Tropical Depression "Kiko" maintained it strength, the state weather bureau said on Monday evening, September 4.
In its 11 p.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has raised Signal Number 1 over the provinces of Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Batanes, and Babuyan Group of Island.
Pagasa located Kiko at 365km east of Casiguran, Aurora, with a maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 65kph.
The state weather bureau added that Kiko is expected to pass extreme northern Luzon by Tuesday midnight and expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Wednesday evening, September 6.

Pagasa said that a moderate to occasionally heavy rains is expected over northern Luzon by Tuesday evening, September 5.
Pagasa added that residents in the affected areas are advised to be stay alert against possible flashfloods and landslides while fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the eastern seaboard of northern and central Luzon due to approaching tropical depression.
