THE regional office of the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) in Davao posted 5,700 employees who were voluntarily regularized as of last week as a result of their intensified campaign against illegal contractualization, an official said on Tuesday, November 8.

The Dole-Davao region technical support Chief Paul Cruz during the culmination of the 27th National Statistics Month on Tuesday said that since the implementation of their action plan, the office has urged several companies to voluntarily regularize their employees to ensure security of tenure.

These are the workers who were directly hired and subjected to a practice of "endo" or end of contractualization and are now regularized by the company.

He said Dole pushes for quality work that entails, security of tenure, just and fair compensation, social protection, social dialogue and motivation to self-organize.

The labor official added they are still committed to their 2017 target, which is to create one million jobs while reducing 50 percent of those that are into illegal contractualization as ordered by President Rodrigo Duterte.

Cruz, however, clarified that their action plan for illegal contractualization is only for the private sector and they do not have an action plan for those in government.

The Civil Service Commission said it has the mandate over government employees and not the Dole.

Cruz also said Dole has already invested P2 billion in employment generation in the form of livelihood and emergency funding.
