MASANTOL -- Some 573 students from this municipality received on Wednesday, August 31, financial assistance from the local government as aid for their educational expenses.
Mayor Danilo Guintu led the distribution of cash grants amounting to P1,100 for every college student from 26 barangays here.
“Ito yung mga indigent na kabataan ng Masantol na gusto at pursigidong makapag-aral at makapagtapos. Binibigyan natin sila ng kaunting tulong mula sa gobyerno,” he said.
The local government here has been distributing educational grants since 2013 after Guintu assumed the local chief executive post.
Guintu urged the recipients to maximize the opportunity of being able to go to school and pursue their education.
“Hindi naman ito malaking amount pero makakabawas na rin ito sa gastusin ng kanilang pamilya,” he noted.
He stressed that education is the key in providing inclusive development in their municipality.
“Sa local government, nag-e-encourage kami ng maraming investors syempre, pero hindi naman totoong uunlad ang bayan kung may mga businesses nga pero hindi naman galing dito ang empleyado,” he said.
He said successful investments must equate to rise of employment in the municipality.
“Hindi lang ito tulong sa mga estudyante kundi pati sa pamilya nila dahil kapag nakapagtapos ng pag-aaral ang mga batang ito, makakatulong na sila sa pamilya,” he added.
