CLOSE to 600 Chinese nationals who were arrested in Clark, Pampanga last week have been allowed to post bail, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Monday.

BI Spokesperson Antonette Mangrobang said the 592 foreigners were given temporary liberty for being "properly documented."

"Nung Friday the board of commissioners granted bail to 592. They were released because they were properly documented, it's just that they violated the conditions of their visa tapos in the bail order, they requested temporary liberty," she said.

Asked if they were to be deported, the BI official explained: "Hindi muna idedeport. While their cases are pending they are temporarily released on bail but that does not mean that the case against them has been dismissed."

Mangrobang added that the objective is to decongest the facilities.

"Kapag released on bail, pwede na lumabas. There is just a reportorial requirement that they need to present themselves in our office in Clark every first and fourth Monday of the month," Mangrobang added.

The Chinese nationals were nabbed by government operatives inside the Fontana casino last November 24 for allegedly operating an illegal online gaming business. (FP/Sunnex)
