MISS Philippines Maxine Medina has made it to Top 13 of the 65th Miss Universe pageant.
The 26-year-old was the eighth candidate to be called to advance in the next round of the competition during the coronation held Monday morning (Manila time) at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Philippines.
In a brief interview on stage, Medina said that going to the competition, her aunt, former Miss Universe Philippines 1990 Gem Padilla-Thomas told her to just be herself in the pageant.
"She told me to be myself and to be more confident since it's going to be here in the Philippines."
Meanwhile, Miss Thailand Chalita Suansane was voted fan favorite during the five day global voting.
According to the Miss Universe Organization, over 100 million votes were cast for all 86 candidates.
