OVER 35 runners joined the just-concluded 7th Basura Run in an out-and-back course from People's Park, Davao City.
Team Titans Davao (TTD), Team Kapwa (TK) and Davao Striders took part in the event to raise the awareness of proper garbage disposal.
They collected around three sacks of garbage while running the five-kilometer event.
Apart from Davao, other cities nationwide also ran simultaneously including Cebu, Surigao, Bogo, Dumaguete, Iloilo, Butuan, Manila, Tagbilaran, Baybay, Ormoc, San Carlos, and Bacolod.
A similar event was also held in Mexico.
The activity was initiated by Tony Galon.
TTD president Ricardo Audan, in a phone interview with VoxPop Davao, said they tend to encourage other running teams in Davao that running should also be extended to community responsibility, by promoting a healthy lifestyle while cleaning the environment.
The 8th Basura Run is slated on the first Saturday of December. (ABM)
