LUBAO -- The annual Lubao International Balloon and Music Festival (LIBMF), which was held from April 6 to 9 at the Pradera Verde in Prado Siongco village here, have attracted more spectators this year.

Event organizers said 80,000 people joined the LIBMF, which is recognized as the "biggest hot air ballooning event in Southeast Asia."

The biggest crowd drawer was on Saturday, April 8, when close to 25,000 individuals watched the morning flight of some 37 hot air balloons.

Weather during the four-day festival was favorable for balloon flights and open-air concerts, which visitors enjoyed through their P300 ticket.

Performances by local and international artists during the evening concerts also highlighted the event.

Among the local bands and artists who entertained the spectators were Parokya ni Edgar, Sponge Cola, Moonstar 88, Bamboo, rapper Gloc9, and Yeng Constantino.

Internationally-acclaimed singer Redfoo and YouTube sensation Alex Aiono performed during the final night of the festival.

Some local celebrities who were sighted during the event were couples Janno Gibbs and Bing Loyzaga, Kate Lapuz, Sheena Halili, Ara Mina, Enchong Dee and Erich Gonzales, Vice Ganda, Gelli De Belen, James Reid and Nadine Lustre, and professional basketball player Arwind Santos.

"This year's response from the public was overwhelming and we want to reciprocate this with much bigger shows and more exciting events in the coming years," Forthinker Inc., the event's overall organizer, said. (PR)
