THE joint task force operatives impounded a total of 85 vehicles in Toril District during a surprise road security and safety operation on Friday, June 16.

The operation aimed to clear the city, particularly in the Toril area in Davao City, of carnapped/undocumented and delinquent vehicles such as motorcycles, tricycles, cars, SUVs and trucks.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director Alexander Tagum said that the task force conducted a major traffic operation in areas of Toril around 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on June 16 that led to the confiscation of the vehicles.

Of the 85 vehicles, there are four vans, one Sedan car, 12 closed-cabs, 19 motorcycles with sidecar and 49 motorcycles.

Traffic enforcers also issued a total of 289 Temporary Operator's Permit (TOP) for those drivers who committed minor traffic violations.

This ad hoc task force was formed to intensify the implementation of traffic laws in connection to the fatal vehicular incident on Wednesday involving a commuter van that claimed 11 lives and wounded seven individuals.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio then directed authorities to strengthen their monitoring on vehicles particularly vans that are usually involved in incidents to avoid similar incidents.
