THE National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has scheduled a nine-hour power shut down on Friday, November 4, to pave way for maintenance works in its power substation in the west coast of Zamboanga City.
The NGCP Regional Information Officer Elizabeth Ladaga said the maintenance activity of the 100 Megavolt Amperes at Pitogo Substation from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. requires the shutdown of areas in Pitogo-Tulungatung, Pitogo-Tumaga, and Pitogo-San Jose Gusu 69-kilovolt lines.
The shutdown will affect the Recodo, Ayala and San Jose-Gusu Substations of the Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative (Zamcelco) that serve the industrial area in the city.
The three power substations serve the 12 canning factories and the Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone and Freeport Authority (Zamboecozone) located in the industrial area.
Ladaga said brief power interruptions will also be experienced in the substations of Cabatangan and Camanchile during start and completion of the maintenance works.
Ladaga said the NGCP will exert all efforts to restore power earlier or as scheduled. (Bong Garcia/Sunnex)
