A FLOWER delivery business might be the last thing in the mind of a male registered nurse to put up as his own business.
But Peter Naurice Pegarro defied the norms as early as 2007 way back when he was still a student. Seeing the need to help Filipinos working abroad to celebrate love with their girlfriends, wives, or loved ones, Peter established FG Davao-Flowers Gift Delivery through an online platform, Friendster. Although things had been pretty challenging back then for Peter, he was still able to get through the trust of his clients with their hard-earned money.
"I do love flowers but another thing I am also interested in is architecture and I am able to incorporate that with how we arrange the flowers here. I like how the color and the structure are being combined in architecture. That is my philosophy in what I am doing. Every bouquet has a story to tell," he said.
Though the business and the nature of it is far from the practices and the day-to-day life of being a registered nurse, Peter said he knew he is already living his dream job, knowing that doing well with what he ought to do, he affects the lives of his clients.
In a way, incorporating floral arrangement with his first passion which is architecture, Peter enjoys what he is doing. This can be apparent with his business now being on its 10th year.
Having been able to gain the trust and the friendship that come with having to have "suki" clients, Peter continued to keep his flower business going online until 2013 when he, together with his wife, established a physical store at Lopez Jaena St., corner Lastimosa Alley, Davao City.
Now, they not only buy flowers locally, they also import flowers fresh from China, Ecuador, and Holland.
"Some of our clients started out with us still in the courting stages, until such time they were married and the wife finally gave birth. The flowers for delivery for that were ordered from us as well. Other cases, the couple moved abroad, and instead of one of them receiving the flowers, they are the ones calling us to deliver flowers for the mother left here in the Philippines," he said.
Peter shared that being in the business for quite some time had made them a part of other people's lives, more particularly other people's love stories.
