THE desserts scene in Davao City is much sweeter with Sew-it' Slice, which was established by Mohammad "Champy" Han, who is a nurse, and his wife Sherasmin "Bon" Otto Han, who is a pharmacist, back in 2011 in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.
Bon, who hails from Cotabato City, was studying pastry during the early years of their company.
Champy, who is originally from Davao City, said she would travel weekly to Cagayan de Oro City for her studies on pastry but while she was studying, they were already earning
"Katong iyang mga matun-an gina-apply na niya (The things she has learned, she is already applying them," he said.
Champy said eventually they started receiving orders and started applying to a local coffee shop in Bukidnon.
Sew-it' Slice started to sell its product online via their Facebook page.
Champy said his wife does all the mixing of the ingredients while he assists her in the baking, delivery, and other things for the business.
In 2014, Bon complete her studies as a pastry chef.
Then in 2015, Champy and Bon came back to Davao City, where they continued to operate their pastry business. Along the way, they were not only offering cakes but they also offered other desserts like cupcakes, French macaroons, and Macustard, a cross between macaroons and custard.
To make themselves known to the public, they also participated in local bazaars in Cagayan de Oro City, Davao City, and Cotabato City. Here in Davao City, they are regulars in the Christmas Bazaar at the Davao Convention Center every December.
Customers can also be assured that they will only get the best desserts from Sew-it' Slice. Champy said they will not compromise with lesser ingredients that will be mixed in the cake. He said they only get and source the best ingredients to ensure that their customers are happy and satisfied with their products.
He and his wife are also set to join the World Food Expo in Metro Manila to look for equipment and new ideas to be able to provide better services and products to their customers.
Q Asia Magazine has also recently awarded them the Seal of Product Quality for Davao during the 12th National Product Quality Excellence Awards 2016-2017.
