CAGAYAN DE ORO -- THE Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) announced on Wednesday, August 2, that the Camp Evangelista Station Hospital (CESH) inside the 4th Infantry Division headquarters in Barangay Patag is slated for modernization.
General Eduardo Año, AFP Chief of Staff, said the military has allocated about P50 million for the construction of CESH’s additional building that could lead to decongesting the hospital for the army troopers.
"Yung modernization of hospitals natin patuloy, especially itong mga hospitals na malapit sa mga battle areas. Of course, sa V. Luna General Hospital, 1 billion ang inilabas ng Presidente, pag natapos yun, at par na siya sa mga first class na hospital dito sa bansa," said Año during his visit on Wednesday afternoon.
Año has turned over at least two air-conditioned Pneumatic Medical Tents also for the wounded soldiers.
The tents will be set up inside the Camp Evangelista while the other one will be brought to Marawi City.
The medical tent has removable velcro floor, removable entry awnings easy for docking, securing net in the roof area, has immediate operational readiness, versatile and mobile, and has its own independent power supply.
It also has complete medical equipment placed in just one pack, and can be erected in two minutes, with just two people. One tent can house 8-10 people.
Both tents cost P5 million.
Año also awarded Wounded Medal Soldiers to 53 soldiers and gave P1 million each to the families of slain soldiers.
Prior to his visit, Año said he first came to Marawi City to congratulate the soldiers "for their determination in finishing the battle."
Año said while the war is nearing its end, the troops are cautious especially in taking back vital structures being occupied by the Maute terror group.
"Yung ginagawa natin doon ay house-to-house, building to building, floor to floor, chamber to chamber ang away doon, ang mahirap doon ang mga snipers na nakapwesto sa gusali, pero compared sa first weeks, na reduce na natin yung strength nila," he said.
Año added that there are still about 300 hostages scattered in the different areas in Marawi City.
