THE Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded several aftershocks following the magnitude 5.5 quake that hit Batangas and other areas Tuesday night, April 4.
As of 10:09 a.m., Phivolcs listed 48 aftershocks with five over 4.0 magnitude quakes recorded.
The 10:09 p.m., Tuesday aftershock recorded Intensity III in Tagaytay City and Intensity II in Lucban, Quezon; 10:44 p.m. tremor recorded Intensity III in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro and Intensity II in Tagaytay City; 11:13 p.m. Tuesday tremor recorded Intensity II in Tagaytay City and instrumental Intensity I in Lucban, Quezon; and 12:49 a.m. Wednesday aftershock recorded Intensity III in Tagaytay City, Quezon City and Pasay City; Intensity II in Talisay, Batangas; and instrumental Intensity III in Tagaytay City.
A magnitude 5.5 earthquake hit Tingloy town, Batangas around 8:58 p.m. Tuesday with a depth of five kilometers.
The tremor was felt at Intensity VI in Batangas City; Intensity V in Malvar and Calatagan, Batangas; Intenisty IV in Makati City, Obando town in Bulacan, towns of Silang, Noveleta, Imus and Indang in Cavite, Calamba City in Laguna, Sta. Ana district in Manila, Valenzuela City, Tagaytay City, and Cuenca, Batangas; Intensity III in Mandaluyong City, Quezon City, cities of General Trias and Dasmariñas in Cavite, Pasay City, Lucena City, and Sta. Rosa, Laguna; and Intensity II in Talisay town in Batangas, Abra De Ilog in Occidental Mindoro, Pasig City, and Meycauayan, Bulacan.
Phivolcs also recorded instrumental Intensity IV in Tagaytay City; instrumental Intensity III in Mauban, Quezon and Lucena City; instrumental Intensity II in Muntinlupa City and Calapan City; and instrumental Intensity I in Infanta, Quezon.
The Office of Civil Defense Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Center-Calabarzon posted an advisory in their Facebook page informing the public of pre-emptive evacuation conducted by some Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Centers in coastal areas of Batangas.
Phivolcs also took to social media to post infographics of their earthquake intensity scale, family earthquake safety guide and preparation guide before, during and after an earthquake.
