THE City Government of Davao, through the City Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO), vowed to continue its assistance to 19 blast victims who were injured and still confined at six different public and private hospitals in the city.
Based on the records of the CSSDO, there are still 10 patients who are still being treated at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC), one at the Brokenshire Hospital, one at Davao Doctors Hospital, one at the Ricardo Limso Hospital, two at Davao Medical School Foundation (DMSF), and five at the San Pedro Hospital.
The 21-year-old pregnant massage therapist Vicenta Depalubos-Asperin succumbed on Monday evening, September 12, due to heart failure and brain complications.
CSSDO, however, revealed that among the 19 wounded victims, only Julius Gallardo remains at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of SPMC while the rest have been recuperating and were transferred at the regular hospital rooms. Most of them are gradually improving.
Another victim, Junaib Usman, recently underwent an intestinal surgery and was transferred to a private room at Ricardo Limso Hospital to avoid exposure to other diseases.
CSSDO head Ma. Luisa Bermudo said they have given assistance to the families of the victims. The hospital watchers were also given allowances for 20 days.
This assistance is in adherence to the statement issued by Davao City Mayor "Inday" Sara Duterte-Carpio that the City Government will shoulder all medical expenses of the bomb victims.
The government distributed cash assistance to patients of San Pedro Hospital and SMPC.
She added that the victims' hospital bills and other medical expenses will be shouldered by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office. (JCR)
