"MEDYO relieved is like a super understatement. Super relieved, not medyo relieved."
This was Albie Casiño's response when he was interviewed on Thursday, weeks after it was revealed in public that he is not the father of Andi Eigenmann's daughter, Ellie.
He recalled that he was asleep when the news about the podcast of Max Eigenmann, Andi's sister, became viral on social media.
"I don't have a Twitter (account) so I didn't see it. I read it lang (then) I went back to sleep," Casiño said.
The actor said he is happy that the truth has finally come out. He's also hoping that his name will not be dragged anymore in this issue.
"Parang lagi akong bitbit sa issue na yun and now I'm happy that people can talk about the issue and not talk about me anymore," he said.
Casiño added that even before the paternity was made public, he offered to undergo DNA testing and wanted to be civil with Eigenmann.
"I had a feeling it wasn't my baby, but I was never sure. I wanted to be nice. I wanted to build a good relationship just in case that it was actually my kid so we would be on good terms."
"I just want to be civil with her because I was never sure. Everyone was asking me about lukso ng dugo, I never had any of that. None of that," he said.
Casiño said he hasn't seen Eigenmann since the podcast came out.
Meanwhile, the actor said that more than himself, he's happy that his name was cleared for the sake of her mother, Rina Casino.
"She was super happy about it. I never really understood how much that ordeal affected her until I read the PEP article," he added.
According to Casiño, it was only recently he realized how much it affected his family, especially his mom.
"For me, when that issue came on, I brushed it off. I'm very good at shoving bad experiences down like I tried not to let it affect me. But I then I realized that eventually that's going to come up. That's going to do more damage to you," Casiño said.
The 23-year-old said his biggest learning is to always listen to your parents.
"They know what's best for you even when it comes to girls. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true.
When asked if he's thinking of filing charges against Eigenmann after his name was maligned every time the paternity issue was brought up, Casino said he'd rather move on.
"Hahaba pa yung proseso. I'm just so happy to be done with it now. I don't have to see them, I don't have to think about them. I don't have to worry about them, my name is not associated with them anymore."
He also revealed that he's happy now and dating someone.
"I'm just going to say that my personal life is at a good place right now. Non-showbiz. Ayoko na mag showbiz (girlfriend) after the whole ordeal," Casino ended. (Sunnex)
