IT’S all systems go for this year’s Greater Sta. Cruz Island Summer Festival.
This after Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar has approved the proposal and budgetary program for all the activities lined up to make the summer in the island more fun, exciting and memorable.
Salazar said the event, dubbed as Fiesta na Isla, will run all Saturdays and Sundays between April 8 and May 28, this year.
Foremost in the festival is the video competition showcasing the Greater Sta. Cruz Island and its now infamous pink sand.
The mayor said one videographer will win the grand prize of P20,000 while four others will stand to take home P5,000 each.
Various other contests will also be staged for the duration of the island summer festival when participants will get an advocacy shirt as well as cash prizes.
The various on-site and off-site games will include the human sand sculpture, the 3-on-3 boat racing, the island race and the mussel eating competition. (Bong Garcia/VoxPop Philippines)
