A 33-YEAR-OLD man, believed to be a professional hitman, was killed past 7 p.m. Monday, March 26, by the operatives of Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG)-Central Visayas in Barangay Ermita, Cebu City.
Senior Insp. Ricardo Tero identified the fatality as Janice Flores Cabugason, who succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds in the body, during an encounter with Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG) 7.
Cabugason had been jailed in the past for various offenses. He was released from Cebu City Jail this year.
“We received information he killed several persons in Cebu City,” said Tero, RSOG deputy chief.
A .9mm pistol was recovered from Cabugason, an alleged member of the group of Rowen “Yawa” Secretaria, who was killed in a police operation in Getafe, Bohol in May 2016.
Secretaria was the third most wanted drug personality in Cebu City.
The operatives rushed to the coastal village after receiving information on the suspect.
A team from Cebu City Police Station 5 (Carbon) led by Senior Inspector Jonathan Taneo also went to the area.
Cabugason reportedly did not surrender when asked by RSOG operatives to give his gun.
He allegedly opened fire at them, but failed to hit a single police officer. The team retaliated and hit him.
Cabugason was rushed to a public hospital where he was declared dead by the the attending doctor. (KAL/VoxPop Cebu)
