THE first American Football Mayhem, presented by the Flowers Power Football Promotions, is all set to kick off on Saturday, June 24, at the Tionko field.

Davao City Legionnaires captain and team manager Paul Oliver Cabrera and defensive captain Melzar Galicia Jr. bared this during Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum held on Thursday, June 22, at The Annex of SM City Davao.

Cabrera said the event features a four-quarter showdown between Manila Raiders against the Davao City Legionnaires at 1 p.m.

"It will be a debut game to show that American Football is already existing here," Cabrera said, adding that they also aim to promote the sport in the region.

Cabrera founded the team in 2011 but paused for a couple of years with only few members.

The team was revived in 2016 with French reinforcement Jay Jacob who shared his expertise in the sport.

Davao Legionnaires also has plans to bring American Football Mayhem in neighboring cities of Davao.

"We also aim to hold more games this year, around two or three more games in Davao," Cabrera said.

Galicia, meanwhile, invites aspiring American Football players to help their team grow.

"There are no requirements as long as they are dedicated," Galicia said.

He also said the team is composed of players from different walks of life including students, professionals and out-of-school-youth.
