PANABO City's reigning International Boxing Federation (IBF) World super flyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas said he is ready for his second title-defense against mandatory challenger Teiru Kinoshita of Japan during the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao-Jeff Horn clash set on July 2 at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia.
In a Facebook chat with VoxPop Davao, Ancajas said they immediately resumed training a week after his successful first title-defense against Mexican boxer Jose Alfredo Rodriguez in Macau on January 29.
"Handa na po ako,” he said, adding that they are focused on speed and power during training.
He is currently training in Cavite under trainer Marvillo Aballe, Rey Dulay and manager Joven Jimenez.
Ancajas, handled by MP promotions, said it's a dream come true to fight with his idol Manny Pacquiao.
"Sobrang tuwa ko po nung nalaman ko na lalaban ako sa undecard. Excited po kasi para sa isang boxer na katulad ko sir, parang pangarap na natupad na makasama ang isang alamat ng boxing iisang laban sir," Ancajas said.
He is bent on keeping his belt.
The 25-year-old champion said, "Bawat laban ko po sir hindi ko po talaga iniisip ang knockout. Nasa isip ko lang po kung paano manalo sa laban kasi po ang knockout po darating lang po yan."
Aside from bringing honor to the country, he also dedicates his fight to his wife Ruth and their two sons Jhinijie Kyrie and JJ Kyle.
