ONLY three days left before his first title defense against Mexican veteran Jose Alfredo Rodriguez, International Boxing Federation (IBF) World super flyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas of Top Contender Gym sets his eyes to reach the 115 lbs weight before the weigh-in on Saturday, January 28, at the Cotai Arena, Venetian Resort in Macau, China.

Ancajas, who is a native of Panabo City, Davao del Norte, holds a 25-1-1 (16 knockouts) professional record.

The Panabo pride, in a Facebook chat with VoxPop Davao Tuesday, January 24, said they are focused on reaching the desired weight.

The reigning IBF super flyweight champion also said that he has been into cardio training as well as proper diet to reach the weight limit.

His manager Joven Jimenez forbade Ancajas to reveal his current weight as of now for privacy purposes.

Ancajas and his team arrived in Macau on Tuesday and resumed training Wednesday, January 25.

Ancajas is currently training with veteran coaches Marvillo Aballe, Rey Dulay, Todd Makelim, and Ernie Gonzalez.

Ancajas hopes for a safe fight against the challenger, also wishing to win his first title defense.

Ancajas is set to earn US$40,000 for his title defense. (ABM)
