“IT’S SAD that it had to end this way.”
This was Communications Secretary Martin Andanar’s statement on Tuesday after Vice President Leni Robredo resigned as the chairperson of House Urban and Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC).
Speaking to reporters, Andanar said it was too early for Robredo to resign because “there’s so much work to be done.”
He, however, said he had already anticipated that Robredo would eventually vacate her post in the Cabinet since she belongs to a different party, referring to the opposition Liberal Party.
“It’s still too early in the game. There’s so much work to be done… It’s sad that it had to end this way,” Andanar said.
Still, Andanar thanked Robredo for accepting the post even though it lasted for just five months.
“We’re all thankful for her service and we hope we could still work with her in the future,” he said.
Andanar recounted that as a Cabinet member, Robredo always aired her voice whenever there are issues raised every meeting with Duterte and other Cabinet officials.
He added that the Vice President always has “very intelligent and insightful ideas.”
“She had very intelligent and insightful ideas in so many things, and she always fought for her department’s interested because you know, in Cabinet Secretaries’ meeting, you have your interests for your own department,” Andanar said.
“And she was never remiss of those opportunities when she had to put her foot down for HUDCC,” He added. (Sunnex)
