ANGELICUM Learning Center (ALC)-Gamaki volleybelles swept Iligan in their best-of-5 final series, 3-0 to rule the 2017 Claveria Volleyball Women’s Open tournament on Sunday, July 16, in the municipality of Claveria, Misamis Oriental.
Angelicum earlier absorbed a two-set loss to Iligan, 25-10 and 25-22 in the second phase of the double elimination round.
But the vengeful ALC wards of coach Bobong Rameri bounced back with a 25-15, 26-24 and 25-17 payback in the finals.
“Wala gyud kami magdahum nga makasulod pa sa finals,” said Peanuts “Spinach” Uy, one of the mothers of the talented Raagas siblings from the ALC volleybelles.
Iligan finished unscathed in the eliminations with a 2-0 slate, while ALC-Gamaki landed second at 1-1.
Euricka Eslapor unleashed strong offensives along with long-time teammate Martina Dacer, while Martha Raagas and Sophia Abbu provided defenses with their superb blocks.
“Kulba ang depensa nila duha mora’g parehas sa ilang inahan nga pang-100 percent gyud,” said coach Bong’s better half, Delores Labitad-Rameri.
