APALIT -- The local government here, together with the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole), recently hired some 136 indigent students under the Special Program for Employment of Students (Spes).
Public Employment Service Officer Jenny Gamboa said that the students will provide service to different departments of the local government for
20 days.
“By next week, mag-start na ‘yung mga students sa pag-serve and by the end of May, tapos na siguro sila,” she said.
Gamboa said that the students will receive P387 per day or a total of P7,740 as salary after they complete the 20-day service.
She added that 60 percent or some P4,644 of their salary will come from the local government while the remaining 40 percent or some P3,096 will be given by the labor department.
Gamboa said that the SPES is one of the programs of Dole which aims to assist indigent but deserving students aged 15 to 30 years old.
She added that the Municipal Government has been hiring students under the Spes every summer for more than three years now. (Princess Clea Arcellaz)
