ONE of the city's top destinations for the best durian products, Apo ni Lola, has finally opened last November 15 its first ever Durian House inside Ritz Hotel (Garden Oases) in Barrio Obrero, Davao City.
In March, Arnel "Jojo" Raakin shared his plan to come up with a specialty store that sells various durian-based refreshments and other products.
While he initially envisioned to have it next year, he had accomplished it in just a matter of seven months.
The cafe inside the hotel is the first durian-themed refreshment nook in the region, and probably in the entire country too.
The company's operations manager Imee Añabesa said that an opportunity came for them to already open the shop, adding that when they learned that the hotel's cafe is up for a new locator, they immediately thought of grabbing the chance to finally branch out.
With Apo ni Lola's Durian House at Ritz Hotel, Davao tourists, as well as locals, can already have a taste of delectable durian cake, frappe and coffee, among others, without going to their shop in the southern part of the city.
"Having opened our Durian House here is actually giving every durian lover the chance to enjoy different durian delicacies in a more accessible location. For some, going to Matina is not that convenient anymore," Añabesa said.
Apart from their refreshment products, the said branch also offers Apo Ni Lola's baked goodies and candies. Therefore, tourists can already buy Davao-made pasalubong items there.
Apo Ni Lola is one of Davao's homegrown entrepreneurs which recognize the assistance of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in realizing the goals of their business.
Aside from the Durian House at Ritz Hotel, Apo Ni Lola's durian candies are also sold inside the Waterfront Insular Hotel, The Pinnacle Hotel and Suites, Royal Mandaya Hotel, Apo View Hotel and Abreeza Mall.
