AFTER almost 30 months of construction of the Arezzo Place Davao and with now a total of 270 workers, they have reached their one millionth safe man-hour which they celebrated last Friday, September 8.
The safety achievement, which is acknowledged by the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole), is considered to be a milestone by real estate developers and companies wherein the number of hours that the workers are safe in the construction site are being counted. In the event that a worker gets injured, the counting goes back to zero.
Their one millionth safe man-hours was celebrated with a Mass which was then followed by a boodle fight of the employees consisting of construction workers, brokers and Dole representatives.
“Our Phinma Properties culture is always zero accident so this certification is very important to us. This is also important for us to acknowledge also our contributors such as the workers, subcontractors, and everybody since we work as a team to keep everyone safe. We continuously adhere to the safety procedures,” said Construction Management Division Manager architect Cris Iglesias.
Project Director engineer Gene Arcena, for his part said, the role of the construction workers in this achievement is very crucial.
“If it weren’t for them taking precautionary measures, we will really have problems,” he said.
To give honor to their effort of working while adhering to the safety measures of the company and Dole, a Mass was celebrated while a similar service was also done for the Muslim workers.
“Here at work we always emphasize that there will be no compromise of quality and safety. We always tell them what exactly to do at work but we always remind them that no compromise of quality and safety should happen,” said Iglesias.
