A NON-PROFIT organization is set to open an art exhibit called “Kanlungan Ni Hiraya” on Monday, November 21 in a bid to promote the world-class talents of Mindanaoan artists while helping underprivileged children in their medical expenses.
Cure Philippines, Inc., which opened the Tebow Cure Hospital last year, has been providing medical assistance to thousands of children with bone deformities and orthopedic disabilities in Mindanao.
The patients of the hospital are the beneficiaries of the artworks that will be sold during the event to be displayed at the 5th floor of Tebow Cure Hospital.
Vincent Bitana of Tebow Cure Hospital said this event aims to contribute to the cultural and economic development of Davao City and the whole Mindanao.
Bitana added the event also aims to extend the support of the local artist to the mission of CPI to address the needs of disabled children, raising awareness and participating in the healing provided by the hospital.
In the exhibit, the new digital era will be highlighted while featuring the traditional masterpieces in collaboration with Tabula Rasa and Fuji Xerox, which will highlight the artists' works and the digital art it can produce by its revolutionary printing machine faster than ordinary printer.
One year since opening, Tebow has already catered to children not just with bone deformities but also with cleft palates and untreated burns.
They have patients from as far as Luzon who discovered that they are offering free services for orthopedic.
“We’re opening it for the whole Philippines,” Bitana said.
Dinky Munda, president of Tabula Rasa Group of Artists, said that they are creating an art calendar that will be sold at an affordable price.
Munda said that with the recent recognition received by the Dabawenyo artist Daryl Descallar who painted "De Quatro," the inaguaral portrait painting of President Rodrigo Duterte based on the photo of photographer Edwin Tuyay in Malacañang Palace, it is apt that the artworks of the local artists will take centerstage.
