THE Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU) escaped past Crocs FC, 2-1, to barge into the finals of the Davao Regional Football Association (DRFA) at the Tionko field Saturday, September 10.
Ateneo leaned on the services of Ash Gabriel and Rhianne Mendoza who knocked in one goal each to secure the win.
Ateneo, thus, arranged a titular showdown with DC United who crushed Southshield FC, 4-0.
Ateneo was bannered by Kyle Sy, Francis Dela Pena, Ayn Cruz, Rhianne Mendoza, Lucas Elevero, Lance Antepuesto, Ash Gabriel, Gian Paolo Sortirani, Taiyo Nakata, Vic Andrean Cabatbat, Psalm Loquero, Jacy Valverde, RC Peñarendo and Ylac Provido.
Ateneo head coach Rey Henry de Leon, in a post-game interview with VoxPop Davao, said he just hopes the kids will play better in the finals since DC United is a tough contender.
"Advantage din kami sa height kaya we will use that as our strategy," De Leon said.
The championship match was being played as of Saturday.
