THE 6th edition of the Ateneo Reunion Cup (ARC) opened Wednesday at the Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) Martin Hall gym along Jacinto Street, Davao City.
The tournament, according to commissioner Kenneth Neil Bermudez, is an annual cagefest established in 2012 with the thrust of gathering former and current varsity players to renew friendship and show camaraderie among each other.
Bermudez also said in the Facebook interview that the proceeds raised in the event will benefit the current athletes of the university.
He added that a total of 32 teams joined the league, 19 in division one and 13 in division 2.
"We created new division so that we could accommodate non-varsity teams," he said.
In division one, reigning champion Batch 2016 will try to defend its crown against older batches including the Batch 90's, Batch 1999, Batch 2000, Batch 2003, Batch 2004, Batch 2005, Batch 2006, Batch 2007, Batch 2008, Batch 2009, Batch 2010, Batch 2011, Batch 2012, Batch 2013, Batch 2014, Batch 2015.
Younger batches like Batch 2017 and Batch 2018 will also vie for honors in the league.
Games started Wednesday and will resume tomorrow, December 22. (ABM)
