COUNCILOR Ricardo Tan urged Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky, acting director of Bacolod City Police Office, to extend awards and commendation to members of barangay peacekeeping action team (BPAT).
Tan, who authored a resolution for the purpose, said that this month of July, which is the Police Community Relations Month, members of BPAT should be given a commendation in recognition of their valuable support and contribution to the eradication of illegal drugs as the main concern of President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration.
Presidential Proclamation No. 764 issued on January 24, 2005 declares the month of July every year as Police Community Relations Month.
This year’s theme is “Matatag na Ugnayan, Ligtas na Pamayanan.”
The celebration aims to develop closer interaction between the police and the community in handling peace and order concerns.
Tan cited that pursuant to BPAT Manual, Barangay Peacekeeping Operations, the BPAT was conceived for the purpose of effectively addressing the concern on peace and order in the grassroots level where the active participation of residents in every barangay is indispensable in the campaign against eradication of illegal drugs and other crimes.
He added that there are BPAT members in Bacolod who perform excellent work in the field, and are thus worthy of specific citation or recognition.
