B3, Galendez partner to promote tenpin

BACK-TO-BACK Millionaire's Cup champion Tessa Dianne Galendez and NCCC Mall B3 Center forged a partnership to promote the sport of tenpin bowling among people in Davao City.

NCCC Mall B3 Center's Anton Venculado, Jr., during Thursday's Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the B3 Center lanes, said Galendez was fit for the role having had achieved so much in the sport at such a young age.

Galendez, for her part, said she is excited about promoting tenpin bowling to the public as it is not yet as popular to most people.

"Dili sayon tun-an ang tenpin (It's not easy to learn tenpin). It takes time like one year or more to be familiar with it. We invite students, seniors and young professionals to try out the sport. I'm really excited to share my skills and knowledge to them," she said.

Venculado said they plan to hold bowling clinics for beginners summer next year although B3 already tied up with Ateneo de Davao Grade School for its bowling class in PE.

Considering the high cost of tenpin alley fees compared to duckpin bowling, Venculado said they offer promotional rates for students or schools as part of B3's grassroots program.

NCCC Mall B3's Seniors on Strike, organized in celebration of grandparents day, will roll off tomorrow, Saturday.

Venculado said the four-game bowling event is open to all senior citizens aged 50 years old and above. The bowlfest will cater to 10 teams in a first-come, first-served basis.

Each team, according to him, shall be composed of three players including one from the Davao Tenpin Bowlers Association (Datba).

Intersted participants must present an individual photocopy of Senior Citizen I.D., duly-filled registration form and a P500 worth of NCCC B3 receipt.

The champion will take home P6,000 top prize while the next two placers will receive P4,000 and P2,000, respectively.

Consolation prizes of P1,000 will also be given away to the losers. The player with the most number of supporters will pocket P2,000 worth of NCCC B3 gift certificates. (With Adam B. Morrel)
