THE Bacolod Bulk Water Inc. (BBWI) will soon complete its water supply project for Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa).
Project engineer Joey Pastorel said in a press statement that working on the huge project with such a tight schedule demands perseverance and hard work.
It has been reported that BBWI is expected to supply water to Baciwa this coming October.
A brief assessment of the project shows that pipe-laying on Injection Point 1, from the intake structure to the delivery point specified by Baciwa located at Barangay Granada, has been completed, the statement said.
The water clarifiers, multi-media filters, and flocculation tanks are already nearing completion.
Structures that are needed to run the operations such as intake facility, administrative office, and storage facilities are also almost complete.
The completion of the first injection point will provide Baciwa with enough water to significantly improve water service throughout Bacolod.
For Injection Point No. 2, the nearly 10-kilometer bulk water pipeline connecting Sum-ag River in Murcia to the Baciwa’s delivery point is also in progress.
Tubig Pilipinas Group Inc. has completed the fabrication of the 10-kilometer pipeline with pipes ranging from 700-800mm in diameter.
Aside from using the latest water purification technology, the surface water approach ensures the preservation of the ground water from depletion, the statement said.
Initially, this will deliver 30,000 cubic meters in bulk water per day on its first year increasing the volume to 150,000 cubic meters per day on the latter years.
The bulk water project is being undertaken after Baciwa and BBWI, a joint venture of Tubig Pilipinas, Mactan Rock Industries Inc., and TGV Builders entered into a contract to establish a water facility that would induce more water supply to Bacolod.
