A BUSINESSMAN in Bacolod City has warned the public against threats that he and several of his colleagues, and other individuals received through text as a form of extortion.
Crispin Chua said those who received threats through text message should not worry about their lives and should not give in to the money demanded by the texter or texters.
He said that he received the first text on October 20, informing him that a hit man from Pototan, Iloilo was hired to kill him. It was followed by another text message from somebody acting like a mediator, and followed by another text asking for P20,000 to be sent through Pera Padala to avert the plan to kill him.
Chua added that other businessmen and a friend told him that they also received the same threats through text messages.
The mobile numbers used were (0998)4559274; (0920)6227648; (0920)6194795; (0917)4962977; and (0912)7006396.
Chua said he has already reported the incidents to the police, and that he already has an idea who is behind such attempt to extort money.
Manny Villaera, national deputy operations officer of Task Force Crusaders, said they are closely coordinating with concerned government agencies to arrest the suspect or suspects in these extortion attempts.
