A POLICEMAN in Bacolod City is facing various complaints, including harassment and grave threat, before the Commission on Human Rights in Negros Occidental.
The complainant Mark Thaddeus Tanalgo, a parole and probation officer-in-charge in Sipalay City, accused Police Officer 3 Giovani Miranda, with his aunt and other persons, of coming to the front of their (Tanalgo) gate to demand to give their property to his aunt around 11 a.m. on October 25.
He claimed that there was already an execution order from officials of Barangay Mansilingan in favor of them, but he failed to present a copy of the supposed order.
Tanalgo further alleged that Miranda showed intimidating gestures and even threatened him and his wife while his aunt shouted at them.
The incident was reported to Police Station 7.
The police officer alleged that Tanalgo failed to attend a hearing in the village to settle the land dispute.
Tanalgo said the police officer abused his title and position as a police officer to harass, intimidate, and threaten them in their house.
He added that such acts showed unethical, unprofessional, unbecoming, and unfitted for his position as a police officer.
The conflict involved a portion of land situated outside of the perimeter fence of the subdivision near a river adjacent to Tanalgo’s property.
Miranda, who is assigned at Police Station 4 of Bacolod City Police Office, denied the accusations of Tanalgo.
He has yet to obtain a copy of the complaint, but he knows about the blotter report in Police Station 7.
Miranda said he came only to provide assistance to his aunt after the latter asked him.
“I have no involvement in it,” Miranda said, adding that there was no harassment, threat, intimidation, trespassing, abuses and other violations on his part.
He said he will answer the allegations in a proper venue.
