BACOLOD City Councilor Caesar Distrito said on Wednesday they will study the legal consequence of the complaints filed against Liga ng mga Barangay president Noli Villarosa before the National Liga once they receive a copy.
“It has not reached the Sangguniang Panlungsod (City Council) yet, so we still have no idea nor jurisdiction over it,” said Distrito, chairman of committee on laws.
“If ever it comes to our attention, we will then study its impact and legal consequence, particularly the issue of jurisdiction on matters involving Liga affairs,” he added.
Jose Maria Leandro Norberto de Leon, village chief Vista Alegre, filed a complaint for abuse of authority and violation of Section 5 (a) Republic Act 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standard for Public Officials and Employees against Villarosa, the village chief of Barangay Tangub.
He submitted the November 21 complaint to Edmundo Abesamis, president of the National Liga ng mga Barangay, stating Villarosa’s failure to call for a general assembly and to submit a detailed financial report.
Villarosa was absent in Wednesday's regular session, and did not answer repeated calls for an interview.
