CRIME incidents in Bacolod City decreased by 27.30 percent, or 86 incidents, from February 1 to 28 this year compared to the same period in 2017.
Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, officer-in-charge of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), presented the report to the members of the media in a press conference at the city police headquarters on Thursday, March 1.
The data showed 229 incidents were recorded this year while 315 were reported last year.
For the eight focus crimes or index crimes, there was a decrease of 67 cases or 53.58 percent, with 125 incidents in 2017 and 58 cases in 2018.
Index crimes include murder, homicide, physical injury, robbery, theft, carnapping, motornapping, and rape.
Of the eight focus crimes, theft had the highest number of cases with 30 incidents; physical injury, 12; robbery, nine; motornapping, four; homicide, three; and one case each for murder and rape. No cases of carnapping were reported.
For non-index crimes or violations of special laws, 172 incidents were reported this year against last year’s 190. It has a drop of 18 cases or 9.47 percent.
For traffic accidents, there was an increase of 79.22 percent or 39 cases this month.
Fifty-four cases were reported in 2017 while 93 incidents were recorded in 2018.
In police initiated operations, accomplishments on illegal drugs and illegal possession of firearms increased by 1,300 percent and 100 percent, respectively.
For illegal drugs, BCPO conducted 80 operations, with 141 arrested persons, and 221 cases filed. There was a recovery of 221.49 grams of “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) worth P3,172,350.
Under Oplan Tokhang, 125 households were visited and 125 were revisited.
Sixty-two street level target drug suspects and seven high-value target drug personalities surrendered while 25 newly-identified drug suspects yielded.
For illegal gambling, 16 operations were conducted with 34 persons arrested and 13 cases filed. (GYM)
