CRIME incidents in Bacolod City decreased by 34.38 percent, or by 77 incidents from February 1 to 20 this year compared to the same period in 2017.
Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, officer-in-charge of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), in a press conference on Wednesday, February 21, at the BCPO headquarters said that 224 incidents were recorded last year while 147 were reported this year.
For eight focus crimes or index crimes like murder, homicide, physical injury, robbery, theft, carnapping, motornapping, and rape, there was a decrease of 63.22 percent or 55 cases, with 87 incidents in 2017 and 32 cases in 2018.
Theft had the highest cases among the eight focus crimes with 17 cases; physical injury, eight; robbery, six; and carnapping, one.
There were no reported cases of murder, homicide, rape, and motornapping.
For non-index crimes or violations of special laws, 137 cases were recorded last year while 115 incidents were reported this year, with a decrease of 22 cases or 16.06 percent.
In police initiated operations, accomplishments on illegal drugs increased by 75 percent while the campaign against loose firearms increased of 83.33 percent.
For illegal drugs, BCPO conducted 16 operations, with 37 arrested persons, and 43 cases filed from February 1 to 18. There was a recovery of 123.795 grams of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) worth P1,856,925.
Under Oplan Tokhang, 103 households were visited and 114 were revisited.
Sixty street level target drug suspects and six high-value target drug personalities surrendered while 22 newly-identified drug suspects yielded.
For illegal gambling, nine operations were conducted with 23 persons arrested and nine cases filed.
