BACOLOD City Mayor Evelio Leonardia urged the Bacolod Executive Advisory Councils (BEAC) and the Bacolod Executive Consultative Group (BECG) to work together to accelerate government services.
Leonardia, who led the launching of BEAC at the Bacolod Government Center Friday, October 7, said the BEAC aims to maximize private sector participation to accelerate government service.
The activity was attended by Undersecretary of Department of the Interior and Local Government Jesus Hinlo, Bacolod City Representative Greg Gasataya, and several stakeholders.
The BEAC is composed of nine Advisory Councils, including business and economic development executive advisory council chaired by George Zulueta; culture, arts and tourism enhancement executive advisory council, by Benjie Torre; foreign relations executive advisory council, by Jona Macaranas; peace and order executive advisory council, by Al Victor Espino;
Physical and infrastructure planning and development executive advisory council, by Rodel Parcon; social services, family, and youth welfare executive advisory council, by Stephanie Ampil and Israel Salanga; sports and education development executive advisory council, by Marlon Solidum.
The BEAC will also decide who will lead the citizens involvement in government action executive advisory council, and public health, sanitation and enviro nment enhancement executive advisory council.
Each council has five to 11 members. They shall be composed of solely or private individuals drawn from non-government organizations that are relevant and pertinent to the specific mandates of the council.
The BECG is led by City Administrator John Orola.
Leonardia said the private sector should be involved for the progress and development of Bacolod.
“There are so many bright boys and girls here, and it is useless if we will not tap their abilities and potentials,” he said.
He said the BEAC will not affect the function of the City Council because majority of them are also cooperating with the mayor.
So this is a good time to pursue this kind of set up to strengthen government scenery, he added.
Leonardia said he is impressed with the participation of the stakeholders in implementing programs and projects in the city.
