THE schedule of the mass wedding in Bacolod City has been moved to February 13.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia said Wednesday the ceremony was reset after he received a communication Tuesday from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Regional Office 6 that President Rodrigo Duterte called for a meeting with all the governors and mayors of Visayas and Mindanao on February 12 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Cebu City.

Leonardia had earlier announced that the mass wedding will be held on February 12.

“We will hold it on February 13 instead of Valentine’s Day because February 14 is also Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent,” the mayor said.

He said he will take an early flight back to Bacolod on February 13 so he could be present for the afternoon ceremony.

Around 200 couples are expected to wed.

The City Government allotted P103,000 for the activity. Tokens will be given to the couples.

The mass wedding project of the City Government in February coincides with the observance of the Civil Registration Month.
