BACOLOD City Mayor Evelio Leonardia has asked the City Health Office (CHO) to come up with a master plan for the construction and rehabilitation of its facilities in Barangay 20.
Leonardia said on Wednesday there should be a plan to organize the development of the building within the compound.
The Department of Health (DOH) had earlier allocated P65 million for the construction and rehabilitation of the CHO facilities.
Leonardia said he is discussing the construction project with Dr. Carmela Gensoli, head of CHO.
“We should have a master plan to use the CHO’s area correctly and to maximize all the facilities,” he said.
Bacolod City Lone District Representative Greg Gasataya had earlier said the project will be implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and P20 million was already released to start the construction.
The bidding will start next month and the remaining budget is expected to be released by 2018.
“We pushed for this project to reduce the number of patients at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) because most of the patients there are from Bacolod City,” Gasataya said.
Leonardia said he is thankful to Gasataya for the additional infrastructure projects in Bacolod, and the CHO project itself is a big help to decongest the patients at CLMMRH.
He added that thousands of Bacolodnons have already availed of the city’s medical program at the CHO.
