THE City Government of Bacolod released Monday, July 24, the salaries of almost 1,800 "summer jobbers" hired by the City last May.
Anthony Ayco, head of Public Employment Services Office (Peso), said students who worked under the Special Program for Employment of Students (Spes) received P3,000 each.
He said authorization from parents were disallowed because they were informed that those who claim on behalf of the students were deducting P300 from their pay.
"It's our policy that the students should personally claim their salaries," Ayco added.
Of 1,800 students hired, 155 got 60 percent of their pay from the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole). The remaining 1,645 were paid fully by the City Government.
Ayco said 95 percent of the "summer jobbers" already received their salaries and the releasing will continue Tuesday, July 25.
He said the 155 students will process 60 percent of their pay at the Dole office.
Meanwhile, the Peso accepted about 10 persons with disability (PWD) applicants for jobs in various establishments.
Peso earlier launched the PWD desk at the Bacolod Government Center to assist the PWDs applying for jobs.
Ayco said most of the business establishment owners signified their willingness to hire PWDs.
Republic Act (RA) 10524 or an Act Expanding the Positions Reserved for PWDs, amending for the purpose of RA 7227, as amended, otherwise known as the Magna Carta for PWD, states that private corporations that hire PWDs will avail tax incentives.
Establishments are required to have at least one percent of their workforce comprising PWDs.
