THE Bacolod City Council is conducting an investigation on the purchase of the P3.9-million city tourist bus under the administration of former mayor Monico Puentevella.
Councilor Caesar Distrito, chairman on committee on laws, said Friday he sent notices to the offices of the persons involved in the procurement of the tourist bus.
Informed were City General Services Office head Jerome Solinap, former chairman of Bids and Awards Committee, along with the city accountant, city administrator, city treasurer, technical working group, and the supplier Nikka trading.
On August 24, Samuel Montoyo, chairman of Save Bacolod Movement Inc., asked the Sangguniang Panlungsod to conduct an investigation and hearing relative to the questionable purchase of the bus from Nikka Trading.
Distrito said that based on Land Transportation Office (LTO) records, the tourist bus was a 1994 model and not brand new as shown in its certificate of registration and official receipt.
The bus was also registered to Vallacar Transit Inc., he said.
He added that the persons involved were given two days to submit their sworn affidavits before the committee hearing on September 2.
Solinap had earlier said that the purchase of the tourist bus was aboveboard.
