BACOLOD City Lone District Representative Greg Gasataya said Thursday, February 8, that this year, around P1.7 billion worth of infrastructure projects will be implemented in the city.
Gasataya said this is going to be a busy year for the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to implement the projects.
“My only request to the DPWH is to ensure proper coordination with the City Government and Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) so as not to hamper the traffic,” he said.
The P1.7-billion budget includes the construction of the Bacolod Economic Highway and flood control projects.
Gasataya said he is thankful to the National Government for providing more budget for the improvement of Bacolod.
District Engineer Abraham Villareal said that within a month, they will start the drainage projects along Rizal Street going to Capitol Lagoon in Lacson Street which costs P20 million, and from Lacson Street towards Mandalagan Bridge worth P35 million.
“Based on our study, there are insufficient drainage lines from Rizal Street to Mandalagan Bridge,” he said.
He added that the drainage projects will start after the BacoLaodiat Festival celebration.
