THE City Government of Bacolod will host the replica and relic of the Sto. Niño de Cebu on December 4.
City Administrator John Orola said Friday the image will be installed at the Bacolod City Government Center Lobby, where a mass will be held at 12:15 p.m. of the same day.
He said personnel of all departments are enjoined to participate in the vigil.
Orola noted that the preparation for the celebration of the 500-year anniversary of the Philippines as a Christian nation in 2021 has begun and this is done through the pilgrimage of the image of Sto. Niño de Cebu, the oldest religious image in the Philippines.
“Bacolod City is blessed that it has a chapter of the Cofradia de Sto. Niño based at the Shrine of Sto. Niño, BBB Street, which assists in the dissemination and circulation of the original Filipino devotion to Sto. Niño,” he said.
Orola added that part of the Shrine’s mission is to conduct the “Visitia Dumiceliara” to promote and propagate the devotion to the Sto. Niño de Cebu and to inform the community of the presence of the pilgrimage site in the Diocese of Bacolod where the replica and the relic will be enthroned.
