BAGUIO City Councilor Arthur Allad-iw is trying to complete a data bank for all Persons with Disabilities.
The resolution approved during their weekly regular meeting is to request the 128 barangays to conduct a regular survey and to come up with a data bank of all differently-abled/other-abled persons residing in their respective barangay.
Allad-iw said their yearly report that falls every second week of August will also be submitted to the office of the City Disaster Risk Reduction And Management Council (CDRRMC) or to the PWD Affairs Office (PWDAO) that will be integrated in the annual city disaster and management plan of the city.
“The safety and welfare of the differently-abled/ other-abled persons should be prioritized due to their special limitations. Thus, they should be integrated in the annual city disaster and management plan of the city. There is a need for a reliable data as to the population and exact location of the differently-abled/ other-abled Persons in the City to be able to reach them and deliver quality services and assistance due them,” Allad-iw said.
A local ordinance mandates all barangays to establish and maintain a PWD desk and to create a similar committee in their respective barangay with designated official or volunteer to man the PWD desk.
Allad -iw recently called for establishments to follow the Magna Carta for PWD’s, that urging all government agencies and private establishments to implement Republic Act 10524.
The Magna Carta assures five percent of all casual emergency and contractual positions in the Departments of Social Welfare and Development, Health, Education, Culture and Sports and other government agencies, offices or corporations engaged in social development shall be reserved for disabled persons.
