CORDILLERA Goshenland Football Club established a new high for Baguio City after placing second and third in the boys and girls division respectively at the close of the Allianz National Youth Futsal Cup during the weekend.
CGFC's aged 16 and under boys squad completed a surprise in the national competition by placing second behind Del Salle Green Hills after finishing the eliminations round with a record of three wins, two losses, and one draw.
The Baguio squad opened their campaign in the one day tournament with a draw against Dream Big Filipinas, 3-3, before scoring huge wins over GK Barangka FC and St Jude ES.
The boys’ squad is composed of Melmar La Peña, Harold Rillera, Aeron Tenollar, Edrian Balila, Mark Flores, Rolando Bobiles, Juie peralta, Zyrel Cacafranca, Ralph Gzmen, Ivan Silva, Miguel Rebultan, and Nimitz Dulay.
The girls’ squad meanwhile bested other teams as it sneaked to third place composed of Bea Luna, Trixie Eslao, Aelias Bocalan, Samantha Beltran, Marian Tenolliar, Krizel Dulatre, Ivy Baliti, Yusharaine Ebes, Oasis Alinsug, Marial Silva, Jhoi Perlata, and Juenie Peralta.
“Although national competitions eto, maganda pa rin ang pinakita ng mga bata,” said coach Aris Bocalan.
With the boy’s squad surprise second place finish, Tenollar will be among the five teen footballers handpicked on Saturday to represent the country in a football camp in Bali.
Joining Tenollar are Malaya’s JM Mitra, Tuloy sa Don Bosco’s Michael Antillo and Archie Dela Cruz, Iloilo’s Konrad Soilurin who were named in the top five.
Based on their performances in the National Youth Futsal Cup at the UA&P Gym, Malaya’s JM Mitra, Tuloy sa Don Bosco’s Michael Antillo and Archie Dela Cruz, Iloilo’s Konrad Soilurin, and Goshenland’s Aeron Tenollo were named to the mythical team, which earned them spots to the Allianz Junior Football Camp (AJFC) in Bali, where youth coaches of longtime Bundesliga champion Bayern Munich will facilitate.
This will be the first time a Philippine team was sent to the camp.
The two Filipinos who will impress the coaches in the Bali camp will get a rare opportunity to be coached by Bayern’s youth mentors right in their home base of Munich.
AJFC is an annual international football camp in Munich, Germany.
