BASKETBALL enthusiasts get another rare chance to watch future basketball stars as the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) brings to Baguio City the regional leg of the 18 under Pambansang Tatluhan.
Set from May 5 to 6 at the University of Baguio (UB) gym, the event is expected to draw more than 30 basketball squads that will be broken down into different groups playing in a single-round robin classification phase.
The top two teams of each group then qualify for the knockout stage or playoffs which starts with a quarterfinal round, semifinals and the finals.
Champions from boys and girls division will bring home cash prizes and will play in the national finals on May 19 to 20 in Manila where they clash against other regional champions.
Interested teams who want to play in the 18 under tournament must have at least four playing members.
Players should submit original and photocopy of birth certificate and an official SBP gallery and notarized waiver.
The SBP is developing the grass roots of 3x3 basketball as it believes it will become an official sports in time for the 2020 Olympics.
Other regional finals will also be slated in key areas of the country which kicks off on April 7 up to the national finals in May. (Roderick Osis)
