AS THOUSANDS of Islam faithful pray for lasting peace in Mindanao during the Eid al-Fitr, the Baguio City Police Office chief called on Muslims to be partners for peace in the city.
City director Senior Superintendent Ramil Saculles, during the end of Ramadan, took opportunity to talk to the Muslim brothers and sisters in the Summer Capital and appeal to help maintain peace and order in Baguio and help the authorities in preventing terrorism threats and activities to occur in the city.
“I appeal to you, our brothers and sisters from the Muslim community, help us protect Baguio City against the threats from terrorist groups and rebels,” Saculles said.
“This is already your city, help us, help the police, help the government protect it,” he added.
The police chief said Baguio like Davao City, Bohol and other areas in the Visayas and Mindanao are tourism destinations which are vulnerable target of terrorism activities, thus the cooperation of all individuals, groups and sectors is very important to prevent violent activities from happening.
The City Government of Baguio and the BCPO have been conducting consultation- dialogues with the Muslim community to call for cooperation among them and be partners in the peace keeping efforts in the city. (PR)
