AN EMPLOYEE of Bais City in Negros Oriental was arrested for possession of illegal firearm and deadly weapon on Wednesday.
Police identified the suspect as Gualiev Candido, 42, of Barangay Tamisu.
Personnel of Bais City Police Station responded to a call for assistance from a concerned citizen at about 1:15 a.m. after Candido was allegedly involved in a trouble inside a drinking bar along the national highway in Barangay Talungon.
When the police arrived, Gerry Teves Jr. told the police that Candido threatened him at gunpoint.
Candido yielded a .45 caliber with a magazine and seven live ammunition, and a 12-inch knife when he was frisked by police.
He will face charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Meanwhile, farmer Genaro Rado, 48, was arrested during a police raid at his house at Sitio Candugay, Brgy Casala-an in Siaton, Negros Oriental.
Police recovered from Rado a homemade .22 caliber magnum loaded with three live ammunition.
The search warrant was issued by Judge Gerardo Paguio Jr. of Regional Trial Court in Dumaguete City.
In Negros Occidental, a laborer yielded a firearm and illegal drugs in a buy-bust at Sitio Tuko, Barangay Inulingan, Moises Padilla town on Tuesday.
Senior Inspector Allan Reloj, chief of Moises Padilla Municipal Police Station, said Dionisio Emolaga, 38, sold a shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) to a police agent but was able to escape after the transaction.
Police seized inside his house a sachet of suspected shabu and a .45 caliber pistol with magazine loaded with four live ammunition.
Reloj said Emolaga was subjected to Oplan Tokhang, but failed to surrender.
